Terms
The agreement, in plain English.

Who can use ABC
You can use ABC if you’re at least 16, you have the legal capacity to agree to these terms, and someone has introduced you to the network. Accounts are created by invitation or through our waitlist; we reserve the right to decline a request at any time.
Your account
Keep your password safe and your email current; you’re responsible for activity on your account. One account per person. We’ll never ask you to share your password.
You can delete your account by emailing us (see privacy).
Chapters
A chapter is a book club hosted on ABC. Each chapter is run by its organizer(s). They decide who joins, who reads what, and how the chapter is moderated. If you’re an organizer, your responsibilities include approving members, selecting books, scheduling meetings, and enforcing reasonable conduct within your chapter.
Your content
Posts you write, shelves you curate, and notes you leave belong to you. By submitting them to ABC, you give us a limited license to display them to the other members of your chapter (and, for your public profile, to anyone who visits your profile page). You can delete your own posts and remove books from your shelf at any time.
If you’re removed from a chapter, the posts and votes you left behind stay in the chapter’s record so discussion history is preserved for other members. An organizer can delete individual posts on request.
How to behave
Be the person your book club wanted to invite. No harassment, no hateful content, no doxing, no impersonation, no spam, no sharing of anyone else’s private information, no promoting products or services without permission from your chapter’s organizer, no circumventing the invitation model by bulk-sharing invite links.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules or that we reasonably believe harm the network or its members.
Invitations
Invitations are personal. Each is a single-use link valid for 30 days. Don’t post invite links publicly or forward them to people you’d rather not have in your chapter. Organizers can revoke outstanding invites to their chapter.
Service availability
ABC is a work in progress. We’ll do our best to keep the site up and running, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted service. We may add, change, or remove features; we’ll flag material changes.
Disclaimer & limitation of liability
ABC is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the past 12 months — which, since ABC is currently free, is zero.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms over time. Material changes will be announced by email and by updating the last-updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of ABC after changes constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
